Annual meeting and Fall registration

By Brian Crews, 07/28/20, 6:45PM EDT

Dear Winter Park Babe Ruth families,

This has been an interesting and trying year for Winter Park Babe Ruth with all that is going on in the world.  We thank you for continuing to support Winter Park Babe Ruth Softball and Baseball League.  We look forward to once again getting out on the fields on a regular basis.

The annual board meeting has been pushed back from it’s usual July date to Wednesday August 19th.  At that time, we will elect the new board and conduct any yearly business that needs to be addressed.  All are welcome at the beginning of the meeting and then the board will conduct its elections following any public comments.

Our Fall season registration has been on hold due to the pandemic, but we are ready to open it now.  We plan to have a Fall season just as we usually do, but with all the CDC guidelines for social distancing for our families/fans at the park and for our players during practices and games.  We had a good run with this during the All-Star tournament over the summer, but with more teams and families attending the games we need to be vigilant in adhering to the CDC guidelines at the time we start practices and games.    We plan to spread game times out as best as we can to limit the number of people at the park.  Each team member will be temperature checked before each practice and games.  This will allow us to have the games and the City of Winter Park Parks and Rec department will allow us to continue to play if we are following the rules.  This will take all of us to be courteous and thoughtful on wearing masks, washing hands, using hand sanitizers and social distancing during practices and games.  If we cannot adhere to this, they will shut us down.

Please understand we are in a public park and this is a must for us to continue to have games and practices at Ward Park.  If something happens where we are shut down prior to the first games, there will be a full refund to parents.  This is will be minus uniforms if they have been ordered at that time.

Thank you for all that you do for the Winter Park Babe Ruth League.  We look forward to seeing you (social distancing of course) at the ballpark this fall.
