WPBR Spring Registration COVID-19 Refund

Dear Winter Park Babe Ruth Family,

We hope you and your family continue to be healthy and safe. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic unfortunately, we have come to a time where we will have to cancel the 2020 Spring regular season.  We have discussed and agonized over many options, but collectively as a board we have decided the best thing to do is cancel and prepare for our Fall season.  Hopefully, we will be able to have a 2020 Fall season.

The biggest thing to know, as we have mentioned this before, most of our costs for any season are at the beginning of a season.  Most of your registration fees have been used to get the season going.  We were able to get six to seven games depending on the division you played in prior to the school closings and the closing of Ward Park because of the pandemic.  If we look at all the expenses and the collected revenue, we broke even for this Spring for the most part.  However, the WPBR League is a family and we want to help our families during this time.

The league is offering a partial refund to interested eligible members. After reviewing all expense/revenue options for the season, we've determined that $50 is the maximum refund that can be given for each eligible baseball/softball registrant, and $35 for each eligible tee-ball registrant.

Please note that refunds will only be processed for people that complete the refund registration. Registering does not guarantee that you will receive a refund. You must also meet the following eligibility requirements. 

A registration is only eligible for refund if there have been more than $100 in payments applied to the baseball/softball registration, or more than $65 in payments applied to the tee-ball/6U softball registration. Every dollar paid (exclusive of service fees) over the $100/$65 thresholds will be refunded. 

So, for example, if you've paid $125 towards the $150 baseball registration fee, you're eligible for a $25 refund.

Refund registration will be open until May 15th, 2020 at which time we will close the registration and send the information to Sports Engine for processing.  

As was mentioned in our last email/letter to you.  Throughout history, baseball and softball have helped us through some difficult times. We look forward to when we can safely get back on the field and hear the words. “Play Ball.”
